Bryanston Obelisk – Gauteng

The Washington Monument is an obelisk, and for this project we installed the foundation piles for a 27m high obelisk in Bryanston.
There are a total of 16 piles down to depths of approximately 17m, with a diameter of 900mm and a large percentage of reinforcing steel, to cater for bending moments in the structure.
The obelisk’s construction requires extremely solid foundations as the dynamic loads from its towering height, coupled with winds and other environmental factors, are intense.
